Job Title: Full-Time Service Advisor and General Administrator
Location: Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham
Hours:Full Time 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Mon- Friday (No weekends)
Start date: Immediate start available

We are seeking a capable and motivated Service Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department, ensuring a seamless and positive service experience. You will assess vehicle concerns, provide recommendations for repairs as guided by the Service Manager or workshop team, and help maintain continuity in day-to-day operations. Additionally, you will work closely with the Service Manager to assist with administrative tasks and support the team to ensure smooth and efficient workflow throughout the service department.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and attentively listen to vehicle concerns
• Conduct preliminary vehicle inspections and document findings
• Explain recommended repairs and maintenance in clear, non-technical terms
• Prepare and present repair estimates, timelines, and invoices
• Obtain customer authorisation before commencing work
• Coordinate with technicians for accurate diagnosis and timely repairs
• Monitor repair progress and update customers regularly
• Ensure completion of work to quality standards and within scheduled timelines
• Address customer questions, complaints, and follow-ups professionally
• Maintain accurate service records and customer information
• Promote additional services or maintenance as appropriate

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Prior experience as a service advisor, automotive technician, or in customer service is essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of automotive systems and repair processes.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities
• Proficiency with service management software and computer systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a garage or dealership
• Sales or customer service training

MOT TESTER/ TECHNICIAN

Due to our ever-growing customer base and workload, we are recruiting for an MOT TESTER/ TECHNICIAN

We’re GX (Gotherington Cross Garage), a well-established, family-run, friendly car repair garage located just outside Cheltenham. We carry out MOTs, servicing, diagnosis, and repairs for all types of vehicles. At GX, we believe in keeping our customers’ vehicles safe on the road while creating a fun and supportive work environment. We don’t believe in pressuring our team for bonuses; instead, we offer a good salary and a happy work-life balance.

Hours: 42.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday
NO SATURDAY work and an early finish on Fridays if we’ve caught up on all the work. We’re committed to ensuring our team has time for their personal lives while also enjoying a fulfilling career.

As an MOT Tester/Technician, here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Carrying out MOT tests for Class 4-7 and Class 5 would be a bonus but not essential (willing to train if not yet qualified)
• Taking care of general servicing and repairs
• Using your technical knowledge and skills to the fullest
• Understanding diagnostic plugins (we have every diagnostics tool you can think of along with full technical support for all makes and models)
• Building great relationships with customers and colleagues

Here are some key points to keep in mind:

• It’s essential to have a good grasp of automotive systems and how they work
• At least 1 years of experience in the motor trade
• Being a problem-solver is a big plus!
• You should be great at working with a team but also be able to take the lead when needed
• Having a full and valid UK driving license is essential
• Own supply of tools is preferable
